Death of A Scarecrow
Today, our scarecrow was cremated. He was only two years old, but coming apart at the seams and was no longer effective at scaring the crows away.
He was created by Gary and me in 2014 out of grapevines growing on our property and Talon's hay. His hat was Tony B's, his boots and gloves were mine, and his jumpsuit was Mike's. His head was a Halloween castoff.
He spent two years scaring the crows out of the vegetable garden, keeping eagles and hawks away from the chickens, and protecting Tinkerbell.
We will miss him.
But next Spring a new scarecrow will be formed with his head and hat and a new jumpsuit from Mike and new boots and gloves. He will be stuffed using more grapevines from the garden and straw.
Adios, Mr. Scarecrow!
